Zarkorr!

THE PLOT:

A huge creature emerges out of a side of a mountain and starts going on a violent rampage throughout the world. The army can't stop it, the scientists are puzzled to what it is.

But average Mailman Tommy Ward can defeat what the army can't. Or so he's been told. The monster is a creature from space named Zarkorr, and Tommy's been picked to stop it. For this is a test from a Superior Alien race.

But the problem is, no one believes him. They think Zarkorr is just a eye beam blasting dinosaur. So the problem is, can Tommy save the world from a rubber room?

ZEDD'S OPINION:

This is America's first real attempt at the giant monster genre (that I know of). Anyway, Zarkorr is great. The whole premise has strong good points. But a couple of things bugged me. One, why didn't they believe him? A giant creature with eye beams can only be a dinosaur and not an alien? Two, they forgot one important part of the giant monster genre. They talked about Zarkorr battling the army, but they didn't show it. I don't think a couple of toy tanks blowing up would have changed the rating any. Anyway, basically it was good and I give ZARKORR....7 STARS

VOLTRON'S OPINION:

The whole thing bugged me, about nobody believing this guy about aliens, like giant indestructable dinosaurs stop cities every day. They couldn't come with a good reason this was happening, why not aliens? Anyway, the acting could have been better and the dialog was a tad on the cheesy side. I am not as fond of this as Zedd is and I give it...5 STARS. Okay, not great.

ON THE POSITIVE SIDE (- HITS):

+ ZARKORR (We both loved the Zarkorr design)
+ CONCEPT (Average man picked to save Earth, pretty cool concept)
+ PROCTOR EFFECTS (The little hologram did look pretty realistic)
+ RON BARNES (Zedd met him, he did pretty good in this part.)

ON THE NEGATIVE SIDE (- MISSES):

- WHY NOT AN ALIEN (I think it was stupid of the people to think Tommy was automatically crazy without hearing him out)
- NO ARMY BATTLES (Couldn't they afford some remote control tanks and planes to blow up?)
- ACTING/DIALOG(Voltron thought the acting and dialog could have been better)

AND FINALLY....

- NOT FOR EVERYONE (If you aren't big on the genre of giant monster movies, then this isn't for you)
