THE PLOT:
A strange bat like creature has arisen from the nearby mountains. Three of them, legend gives them a name. Goas, and only
one force can stop the Goas, Gamera.
A strange island also arises at the same time covered in strange metals. When a teenager obtains one of the strange medals
as a present it awakens Gamera. Who goes in battle against the blood thirsty monsters. But the girl suffers the same wounds
as Gamera does, so there are two lives at stake every time Gamera goes into battle against the Goas. But if he doesn't, it
could spell the end of the world.
ZEDD'S OPINION:
You can thank me for this Gamera movie and pretty much this new series of movies. I wanted to sell them my plot for a Gamera
movie, even called the company that makes Gamera and pitched my idea. Instead, they went with this, but I inspired this new
Gamera movie. Of course if you only like old Gamera movies or don't like giant monster movies, then you can blame me for
this. Either way, I was the cause. Anyway, about the story they came up with. The story works, I liked the reintroduced
Gamera as a good guy right off the bat. The creation of aliens to defeat the Goas, not a rampaging mutant. I don't understand
why he needed the medal to fight? That bugged me a little. Anyway, I give GAMERA 1: GUARDIAN OF THE UNIVERSE.....8 STARS
VOLTRON'S OPINION:
Gamera is one of my favorite series and I'm for a party of one am glad that my dear brother inspired this movie. I think
the effects are far better then any Gamera movie before it. I think I prefer the old design of Goas then this new one though.
Anyway, a good movie and I give it...7 STARS
ON THE POSITIVE SIDE (- HITS):
+ GAMERA (A new Gamera movie in over ten years, I love it)
+ ZEDD (ZEDD is the one who talked Daiei into making a new GAMERA MOVIE. You can thank him later)
+ EFFECTS (Best effects in a Gamera movie ever)
+ HUMAN CHARACTERS (The human characters were well devined)
ON THE NEGATIVE SIDE (- MISSES):
- MEDAL (What's that all about?)
- GOAS (VOLTRON prefers the old GOAS to this new GOAS. Not that this one is bad, just not as good)
AND FINALLY....
- BLAME ZEDD (If you don't like Gamera or giant monster movies, you can blame ZEDD for this new series.)
